The world needs a more human and sustainable economy. We are creating and reproducing it in communities and universities across four continents.
We are certain that one of the most important actors in the study and practice of the social and solidarity economy is the university.
Universities are key in training social entrepreneurs whose mission is to:
• Fight against inequality in marginalised social groups
• Bring peace processes to conflict regions
• Create community transformation and innovation
• Promote and develop fair trade
The conference in September will bring together exceptional community entrepreneurs and students who have stood out in their area or university, to work with academics and potential social investors on how to spread and transfer their innovative ideas and social entrepreneurship to other communities with a positive impact.
Descrizione del progetto. Caratteristiche, punti di forza e peculiarità.
This project lays the ground for enabling entrepreneurial competencies to be replicated through study and practice of the social and solidarity economy, and updating university curricula on four continents.
The conference will open conversations, interactions and discussion on the importance of these themes in building a better, more responsible world for future generations.
The conference will be a meeting point for the social entrepreneurs and academics most directly engaged in their base communities, where they live and experience the values of the social economy: solidarity – where one person eats, everyone eats; reciprocity – for you today, tomorrow for me; sustainability – I will not see it but the next generation will be grateful.
We will create and share experiences worthy of being repeated and reproduced through an open-source handbook.
- Super Community entrepreneurs
We know where these exceptional super community entrepreneurs. We are introducing them to you here so you can decide who you would like to support in fulfilling their intention of taking part, offering their idea of enterprise for improving the quality of life and work for others. Their economic means are not sufficient to travel to the UK, where the meeting and conference will take place. We cannot afford to support all super community entrepreneurs, so that is why we are launching this initiative.
All of them will form part of the virtual network of ideas and enterprises which will be launched at the conference for exchanging of possible solutions in a collaborative way. The idea comes from a digital platform in York called GeniUS!, which aims to socialize the problems of York citizens and foster an open participation to contribute with ideas and collaborative ways to achieve overcoming those problems.

Obiettivi della campagna di crowdfunding
Our goal is to multiply the positive effect of entrepreneurial practices in rural communities in Cuba (Pinar del Río), Mexico (Chapingo), Argentina (Gran Santa Fe) and Peru (Cusco); to spread, connect and create opportunities for all people involved, driving much needed social change and awareness.
We are a multicultural, multi-disciplinary team from various parts of the world, each bringing their own vision and skills to build a better world. We firmly believe that a better world is possible and we work towards it daily.
The Institute of Cultural Affairs Spain has been working for over 30 years with community leaders and social educators, which are committed to improving the quality of life and participation of members of their own communities.
We have empowered women and men (over 10000), training them in social entrepreneurial values, attitudes and mind-set, with a clear political and social mission.
We are very active in writing and running social and community development projects on behalf of the European Education and Culture Agency, having had over 8 successful applications in the last 3 years. All this work is done through strategic partnerships with organisations around the world.
The secret of our team work is trust, collaboration and dedication to our mission. This has resulted in making real projects and courses about women´s empowerment and leadership (Switzerland, Spain) in different areas of life, such as politics, civil society, family, prevention of children abuse and violence (Peru: Cusco, Cajamarca, Arequipa); adult education on how to deal with discrimination and islamophobia (Extremadura, Madrid); training ethnic minority leaders to solve conflict and promote dialogue (Somalia and Eritrea diaspora in the UK). In the last 5 years we have supported the training of social entrepreneurs. Their life histories reveal a personal transformation which means a before and after for them, their families and communities.
Within this context, we have collaborated with the Erasmus project at York St John University (YSJ U).
One of our main lines of action to identify community and social needs and innovative solutions. The link with YSJU helps to promote the aim of making the study, practice and research of cooperatives, social enterprises, mutual societies, time-banks, fair-trade organizations, etc. relevant in the higher education curriculum worldwide.
We are working with YSJU in partnership to promote an economic model which serves people first and the sustainable development of communities.
We inspire and get inspired by the super community entrepreneurs who are clear that another economy is possible, for and by ordinary people.
Social enterprises have social aims at the heart of their being and doing: having as goals the reduction of material poverty, creating decent jobs and at the same time taking care of the environment for future generations
